If technology doesn't seem like magic, it's probably obsolete

I'm finding less time to update my blog these days, but my flickr photostream is often updated.

A few months ago I joined Moviebank just in case I really wanted a DVD. It's been useful a few times, but this weekend when I tried to test the online booking for the Leven Street, Edinburgh store, it was knackered ... just like the link for contacting Moviebank. Anyone got another contact, short of actually going to the store?

moviebank is crap...they use to be good but went downhill last year. I presume the new owner cant manage his shops and isn't bothered. They just want your money but dont give you any service. Dont waste your money!

I agree with kevin as i use to be a member of the shop in Newington and tollcross. But since the the founderl left in beginning of 2006 it is awful now. It is a con now as they are happy to take your money but they never have enough movies as they only buy a couple of copies ,if that, of a big movie and when you do finally get itit never works as dvd always jumps due to scratches- i advise you to go back to Blockbusters. ps - there internet booking site never works so dont hold your breath!

Hi 'peter', good to know your thoughts on Moviebank. Whilst I'm not casting aspersions, your comment has lost some of it's impact by coming *from a Moviebank IP address*. Perhaps it's just coincidence, but I have to say I smell something fishy... Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Moviebank is rubbish - they've hardly got any new titles and no back catalogue to speak of. There's a shop opened up on Broughton St called Alphabet that's much better so I've ditched my Moviebank card and started going there instead - at least they know about films

Hello,

I work for moviebank, usually at the Stockbridge shop. The branch at Newington closed but if you go to either Broughton St, Stockbridge or Dalry and explain that you were a customer there then you get your money transferred and £10 credit for free for all the hassle. The Tollcross branch is run by another franchise owner so not sure about that one... The Broughton branch is easily the best with a huge back catalogue and all the new releases, plus tons of indie/arthouse. As for being a rip-off the staff are usually very accommodating and there are no late fees charged, all you need to do is pop in between 2-10pm and talk with one of us and we'll put your balance back to zero so you don't lose out on any money if it's in the red. That said, I was member of Alphabet before I worked here and it is pretty damn good, I miss old video-shops like that.

Oh yeah, we also sell ice-cream!!!

I must bored...

Regards.
