With all the craziness that Google Maps has thrown up, it's hardly surprising that someone managed to hook things into the Garmin XML format. After a bit of searching last night, I stumbled across this loveliness.
After a quick upload to my own server, a request for a google API key and a little tweak to handle dynamic filenames, I give you this. Please note: none of the cool coding here is mine, I downloaded it from these guys.
Of course, you really want to see it in action, so here are a few samples. For collest results, make sure you select 'satellite' instead of map:

Wow! That's a really cool piece of kit. Maybe I should get myself one of these GPS devices to monitor the walking I do - it my be more accurate than the pedometer I use.
and THAT is why i probably first linked to your blog eons ago- any reference to that area of the peninsula makes me happy- i used to live right off ralston (oracle) near el camino. i miss that stretch of trail...
